Avid Hemp CBD for Sleep FAQ
How Could CBD Affect Sleep Cycles?
To understand how CBD might affect our sleep-wake cycle, we must first explain the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Interestingly, our body produces cannabinoids (i.e., endocannabinoids) that seem to play various functions throughout the body. The ECS refers to this intricate network of cannabinoid receptors and endocannabinoids.
Although endocannabinoids are involved in multiple bodily processes, they seem to exert a strong influence on our sleep cycle. Some scientists suggest hemp cannabinoids like CBD might have an impact on our circadian rhythm via the ECS.
We still don’t know how CBD interacts with the ECS, but preliminary data suggests it could stimulate the production of an endocannabinoid called anandamide. Sometimes called the “bliss molecule,” anandamide might impact mood, memory, and sleep. Indeed, a recent study out of Mexico suggests anandamide could trigger sedation in a group of rats.
Again, we don’t know precisely how CBD affects sleep patterns, but our current research suggests it affects our ECS.
Could CBD Oil Help With Insomnia?
At this point, we can’t conclusively say whether CBD oil helps insomnia patients. However, there is a great deal of evidence suggesting CBD might play a role in the future treatment of this sleep disorder.
For example, a study out of the University of Colorado analyzed the effects of CBD capsules on patients with anxiety and sleep problems like insomnia. Researchers found that most patients had lower stress levels and sleep issues after one month of CBD supplementation.
Scientists in California also published an interesting meta-analysis of studies examining CBD and various sleep disorders. According to the study authors, CBD shows “therapeutic potential” for insomnia, and it might reduce nightmares in PTSD patients.
Although we don’t know a ton about CBD’s effect on insomnia, these studies suggest it might have potential as an all-natural sleep aid.
Note: the Food and Drug Administration hasn’t evaluated any of the claims made on this website. None of Avid Hemp’s products are intended to cure, treat, or diagnose any ailments. We always advise you to speak with a medical professional before taking any CBD supplement.
How Much CBD Should I Take Before Bed?
If it’s your first time using CBD for sleep, we recommend starting with the lowest possible dose to see how your body reacts. You could then gradually increase your nightly CBD dosage and keep tabs on how it affects you.
Once you achieve the results you’re looking for, maintain your current level of CBD. You might also want to schedule a few days off of CBD to avoid building a tolerance.
Since everybody absorbs CBD differently, it’s difficult to give a precise estimate of how much CBD you should take. In most cases, however, first-time users do well with a dose between 10 – 20 mg.
Should I Take CBD Nighttime Capsules With Meals?
Like many other supplements, CBD capsules appear to have a more potent effect when taken with meals. Indeed, a recent University of Minnesota study strongly suggests CBD absorbability decreases when you take supplements on an empty stomach.
For this study, researchers examined the absorption rate of CBD capsules in a group of epileptic patients. Some study participants took CBD pills with a high-fat breakfast, but others took their supplements without eating a meal.
According to the study results, patients who took CBD with high-fat burritos had a far higher CBD absorption rate than those who didn’t eat breakfast. In most cases, the people who took CBD with food had a four-times higher absorption rate.
Of course, this data is all preliminary, so please feel free to experiment with taking CBD at different times.
Could Smokable Hemp Help With Sleep Issues?
It’s too early to say whether smokable hemp could improve sleep quality. However, there is an interesting recent study that suggests high-CBD hemp might have therapeutic potential.
In this latest trial, researchers at the University of New Mexico tracked the effectiveness of smokable cannabis on insomnia patients. According to the study, the vast majority of patients experienced a decrease in restlessness shortly after smoking the cannabis plant.
While this study is encouraging, please keep in mind it wasn’t investigating high-CBD hemp. Yes, CBD was in many of these cannabis strains, but there were also high traces of cannabinoids like THC. We also don’t know which CBD hemp strains have the best effect on insomnia patients.
Every hemp strain has a unique terpene profile, which could significantly impact your smoking session. For instance, strains that are higher in the terpene myrcene tend to have a sedating effect. On the flip side, people who smoke strains with strong alpha-pinene percentages often report feeling “uplifted.”
While you could experiment with Avid Hemp’s smokable hemp flower before bed, please keep in mind our flowers weren’t bred for sleep issues. Only our CBD Nighttime products were made with sleep in mind.

When Should I Take CBD For Sleep?
We recommend taking your preferred dose of CBD for sleep at least one hour before bedtime. This one-hour window gives your body ample time to absorb our premium hemp extract and melatonin. You should feel slightly sedated just before you hit the hay.
Of course, CBD affects everyone differently, and not all of our CBD products are created equal. For instance, if you take a CBD tincture sublingually, you’ll most likely feel the effects within 15 – 30 minutes. On the other hand, CBD capsules and edibles have to work through the digestive system, which means it could take an hour before feeling any effects.
Please listen to how your body responds to our Nighttime CBD formula to determine what time works best for you.
What’s In Avid Hemp’s Nighttime Formula?
Unsurprisingly, whole plant hemp extract is the crucial ingredient in all of our premium CBD Nighttime products. To maintain our consistently high standards, Avid Hemp only works with American farmers that produce resinous hemp plants in sustainable fields. Once we receive our beautiful hemp buds, we place them through a CO2 extraction system to squeeze out all the CBD goodness while removing potential toxins and solvent residue.
But CBD isn’t the only active ingredient in our Nighttime formula. Indeed, Avid Hemp also includes a healthy dose of the sleep hormone melatonin in all of our CBD Nighttime products.
Since melatonin plays a crucial role in regulating our circadian rhythm, it’s no surprise many sleep experts have become increasingly interested in this hormone. Indeed, research strongly suggests there’s a link between many sleep problems and disrupted melatonin levels. Scientists also believe melatonin decreases as we age.
In addition to CBD and melatonin, Avid Hemp includes natural flavors like mint in our CBD Nighttime Oil and fruit juice concentrate in our CBD Nighttime Gummies. We also include a healthy dose of keto-friendly fractionated coconut oil in all three of our CBD Nighttime products.
Note: even though melatonin is generally well-tolerated in healthy patients, we encourage you to talk with your doctor if you have any medical concerns. Patients who are already taking prescription medications should speak with a medical professional before experimenting with our CBD Nighttime products.

Which Avid Hemp Nighttime Product Is Best For Me?
People who are new to CBD often struggle to choose between our three Nighttime Formula products. Each of these items offers different pros and cons, so it’s worth reviewing these differences before making a purchase.
If you’re looking for a fast-acting formula, then we suggest picking up Avid Hemp’s CBD Nighttime Oil. The reason our CBD Nighttime Oil works so fast has to do with two mucosal glands underneath your tongue. Amazingly, these sublingual glands can absorb CBD directly into your bloodstream; so, be sure to hold our minty fresh CBD oil under your tongue for one minute before swallowing.
Those who aren’t interested in Avid Hemp’s CBD oil for sleep might prefer our CBD Nighttime Capsules. Like our CBD Nighttime Oil, each CBD Nighttime pill has plenty of full plant hemp extract and melatonin. The major difference between these items is that the CBD tablets take longer to work.
Many customers describe the effects of our CBD Nighttime Capsules as subtle and soothing. If you’re interested in long-lasting, subdued effects, then you’ll prefer Avid Hemp’s CBD Nighttime Capsules over our CBD oil for sleep.
Lastly, our CBD gummies for sleep are undoubtedly the tastiest of these three options. With our CBD gummies, customers who have a sweet tooth can simultaneously satisfy their CBD and sugar cravings. As a bonus, our CBD Nighttime Gummies are vegan-friendly.
Please remember that CBD gummies have to go through the digestive tract, which means they usually take an hour to kick in. Also, for the safety of your children, please keep these temping CBD treats in a secure location.
If you’re struggling to choose your ideal product, why not try them all in our CBD Nighttime Bundle? For a discounted price, you can test all of our CBD Nighttime products to find what works best for you. Please follow this link for more info on our fantastic CBD For Sleep Bundle.
